Connecting Kids to Science and Nature...
Who was Outdoor Opportunity Group?
Outdoor Opportunity Group is the entity that was established in 2011 by, Jane Linquist, a parent volunteer, coordinating 6th Grade Camp for students enrolled in the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District (LMSVSD).
Jane took the torch from previous parents who wanted to see the tradition of 6th grade camp go on for years to come.
2014 was Jane's last year taking the lead on this volunteer effort. From 2015 - 2017 Sharon Jenkins and Stacy Evans worked together to carry on the tradition of 6th Grade Camp for LMSVSD students.
In 2018, Outdoor Opportunity Group asked the LMSV School Board to reinstate 6th grade camp back into the regular curriculum, there was no longer space at camp for other than school districts.
The benefits of 6th grade camp were presented to the Board, along with a number of testimonials from parents. The School Board chose not to reinstate 6th grade camp. If you are disappointed with this decisions please email the School Board members. 6th grade camp is their decision.
Sincerely,
Sharon Jenkins and Stacy Evans
